Submit an Abstract to the 2023 Ultrapure Micro Conference

We are pleased to announce that we are now taking abstract submissions for the Ultrapure Micro 2023 conference, taking place October 10th-12th in Austin, Texas. The submission deadline is April 20th, 2023

Ultrapure Micro 2023 Theme -Unlocking Facility 2.0

The microelectronics industry is yet to build the solutions which are key to Unlocking Facility 2.0. As advanced facilities adapt to meet the purity requirements for increasingly complex semiconductor technology, they struggle to reduce their environmental footprints, manage costs, deal with supply chain bottlenecks, and expand production alongside an ongoing expertise scarcity. With a new scale of industry problems to overcome, what will the journey towards Facility 2.0 look like in 2023 and beyond?

Unlocking Facility 2.0 will require technological innovation across the industry, and a fundamental overhaul of traditional facility management techniques. New ESG goals, emerging contaminants, and strict regulations impose new constraints on facilities. To ensure a sustainable future for the industry, facilities must crack the code in balancing competing targets related to water circularity, chemicals usage, energy consumption, and gas emissions. All the while, accelerating time to market for the next generation of technological devices whilst managing costs and purity requirements is proving to be an immense challenge for advanced fabs. Innovation is required in digitization, sustainable methods, and quality assurance. Methods used to manage fabs in the past will no longer be enough, and it is more important than ever that the sector collaborates to decode a path towards a seamless and sustainable future for the industry.

UPM 2023 Focus Areas:

Within the concept of Unlocking Facility 2.0, the conference will be focusing on 3 key areas, namely:

Facilities’ Growth & Efficiency: Industry growth and efficiency is key to unlocking progress in all focus areas. UPM 2023 seeks abstracts with solutions to procurement and supply chain challenges; proven ways of accelerating commissioning and construction; executing expansion projects; operations amidst expertise shortages; and digitization strategies.

Environmental Sustainability: No environmental parameters should be considered in isolation. In addition to staple UPM focus areas such as wastewater treatment and water management, this track will bring together key solutions to unlock progress related to chemical reuse, greenhouse gas emission reduction, and energy usage.

High Purity Environments: High purity environments are key to consolidating the industry’s key parameters: yield and reliability. How can we advance new-age solutions related ultrapure water, high purity liquid chemicals and gases, airborne molecular contamination, critical components and more?

What’s Different About UPM 2023?

Develop your submission within the framework of the 2023 theme, making sure that your solution addresses one of the pressing challenges the industry is facing such as:

  • Infrastructure and capabilities to support magnitude of new construction
  • Time-to-market pressures
  • Deficit of trained staff
  • Step function higher complexity of the device and of the manufacturing process
  • Supply chain pressures: materials, sub-assemblies, site work, system startup
  • New sustainability targets and ESG & Environmental discharge targets

Submission deadline:

Please submit your abstract by April 20th at 11.59 PM PST. If you would like to request an extension, or discuss the conference timeline, please contact contact@ultrapuremicro.com.

Please note, due to the high volume of submissions we receive, we cannot guarantee that late submissions will be accepted.

What makes a successful submission?

The vision of UPM is to provide strong technical papers to the industry and to nurture collaboration between facility owners, endusers, service and technology providers. The goal of the conference is to advance microelectronics manufacturing. You should submit a comprehensive abstract and strictly follow the deadlines.

We encourage you to take into consideration the audience of the conference. This can range from high level engineers to those new to the industry, from both facility owners and technology/service providers – click here to read about the 2022 conference and see the attendee delegate list. For this reason, your abstract should clearly address a specific technical problem being faces by the industry or an innovative solution to manufacturing challenges.

Please make sure that your abstract is as precise as possible at this stage and clearly addresses a specific technical problem or innovative solution and refers to data. Where data is not yet available, please indicate this in your abstract and provide an expected outcome.

The inclusion of commercial or otherwise unacceptable content in your presentation will mean you are not invited to speak at UPM 2023.
