Dr. Jens Herbig serves as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at IONICON Analytik, an Austria-based company specializing in the production of PTR-MS trace gas analyzers. These instruments provide real-time monitoring of volatile organic compounds for various applications. After obtaining his PhD in Physics, worked on expanding PTR-MS applications in medicine and biotechnology. In 2013 Dr. Herbig assumed the role of CTO at IONICON. His responsibilities included developing new application areas for the company’s technology.

Under Dr. Herbig’s direction, IONICON ventured into the field of airborne molecular contamination (AMC) monitoring for the semiconductor industry. This market expansion proved to be a significant growth area for PTR technology in the years that followed. Dr. Herbig and his team worked diligently to adapt a complex scientific analyzer into an automated industrial monitoring system, improving its utility for AMC monitoring applications.
