Biography

Richard Godec is currently employed at Godec Incorporated where he is actively developing new products. He retired from his position as the New Product and Market Development Manager at General Electric, Power and Water, Analytical Instruments group (GEAI). Previously it GEAI, Ionics Corporation, Sievers Instruments, Anatel Instruments, and Pure Cycle Corporation he has held the positions of Research & Development Manager, Engineering Manager, New Market Development Manager, and New Product Development Manager. He has extensive experience developing analytical instrumentation for the pharmaceutical, semiconductor, power, aerospace, and petrochemical industries. He is responsible for analyzers measuring Total Organic Carbon (TOC) in water, Boron in water, Urea in water, Organic Sulfur in petrochemicals, and Online Instrument Sampling systems. He recently developed a new Bacterial Endotoxin Testing analyzer for pharmaceutical/device manufacturing. He is developing methods to count 1 to 20 nm particles in semiconductor water and chemicals. He holds over 40 International and US patents in the above areas.

Mr. Godec’s TOC inventions globally account for an estimated 95% of TOC instruments used in the Semiconductor Ultrapure water industry and an estimated 70% of laboratory TOC and 90% of online TOC used for Pharmaceutical Water for Injection and Purified Water. Mr. Godec is an active member of the International Roadmap for Devices and Semiconductors (IRDS) Yield, Ultra Pure Water Committee. He is a member of the ASTM International’s E55 Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Standards Committee and led the task group that developed E2656 “Standard Practice for Real-time Release Testing of Pharmaceutical Water for the Total Organic Carbon Attribute”. He is a member of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE) and “Process Analytical Technology Community of Practice”.
